It has, apparently, come to this. Honestly, I’m not all that surprised. When a coach is forced to fill a backcourt with 6′0″ Dan Dickau, who has worn six different NBA jerseys (including two go rounds in Portland) over a six year NBA career, and 5′10″ D-League callup Andre Barrett, as Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy was during last week’s loss to the Lakers at Staples, it’s pretty clear that some sort of upgrade is required. In the NBA, you need at least a full 12 feet of guard to compete. And no offense to those guys, but the bar has been set pretty low.

It’s in that spirit that the Clippers have officially signed former Lakers PG Smush Parker, who should be well rested after spending basically the entire season exiled from Pat Riley’s Miami Heat. Yes, the same 11-51 Heat currently fielding the NBA equivalent of a rec league team now that Dwyane Wade is done for the year. Even they don’t want him.

I understand that necessity is forever the mother of invention, but given that Smush chafed under the relatively lax hand of Phil Jackson down in El Segundo, and was run out of south Florida after nine games (Really, I’d have never anticipated problems between William Henry Parker and Riley. It was a total, total shock.), does this seem like the kind of guy who is going to be loved by Dunleavy? Likely not, but hey, something has to be done to spice up the LAC’s last 20 games.

I just hope the Smuschalade still has Cali plates

Only in the NBA … Where (truly) amazing happens! … could an absolute absurdity, like this, take place.

    If you compress

Dan Dickau Andre Barrett Smush (who hasn’t played a game since November) …

    it still doesn’t = 1 Sam-I-Am, or 1 S-Livingston. :-)

Wow. Pitiful move by the Clips. Smush is my least favorite Laker of the last 30 years and he has worn out his welcome on another team. He just doesn’t get how lucky he was to have a roster spot and to get PT for the Lakers. Hope they’re not expecting him to play any D. Hard times to be a Clipper fan…they let Sam walk and bring in Smush.
