Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times is reporting that Kobe Bryant will win the first MVP award of his 12 year career, beating out (we assume) Chris Paul, LeBron James, and Kevin Garnett, probably in that order. It’s hard to argue with the choice, given both how well he played- 28.3/6.3/5.4 on 46% from the floor in a full 82 games is nothing to sneeze at- and how he contributed to LA’s 57 win season and their run to the top of a brutal Western Conference.

Hopefully he has reserved some space on the mantle. If not, he certainly can afford to have another one installed.  A well deserved honor for 24… and finally his legions can rest easy.

I hope he gives up his demand to be traded. The Lakers have a good young team that should be contenders for several years.
