The champs are still alive, knocking off the Hornets in New Orleans, 91-82 in Game 7 of their Western Conference Semi-Final matchup.  Despite the excitement around CP3, it’s probably fitting that the Lakers will have to go through San Antonio to win the Western Conference.  The subplots are all there.  Kobe vs. Tim Duncan.  Age vs. (relative) youth.  Riverwalk vs. CityWalk. Eva Longoria vs. the cavalcade of stars rooting for the Lakers.

Should be a fun one.

    ANSWER: December 25, 2007.

QUESTION: What was the first day you were told that the best 2 teams in the Western Conference this season were the Spurs and the Lakers.

5 months later … that initial assessment has proven to be prophetic, as San Antonio (3) & Los Angeles (1) are now set to commence what SHOULD be a terrific series!

Khandor-Gutsy call there picking the reigning NBA champions AND the team with the best player in the league. You’re a regular Madame Blavatsky.

    RJC,

Contrary to popular belief … it’s NOT about making GUTSY CALLS … when selecting Winners from Losers …

its about BEING RIGHT and not wrong.

Sometimes the RIGHT CALL to make is the perceived underdog and other times it isn’t.

The key is being able to TELL THE DIFFERENCE.

12-0 thus far in the 2008 NBA Playoffs … that’s plenty good enough for me. :-)

Double-checked my records this morning. Realized that I am 11-1, thus far, in the 2008 NBA Playoffs, in terms of Series predictions, not 12-0.

    Mea culpa.

PS. Detest making small errors like that. :-)

it easy to say that lakers won when nothing but cheating was observed by everyone. i mean you would have to be a complete moron not to have noticed the fouls that should have been called. i guess cheating is what lakers stand for of course because of their MVP player mascott. As for the coach i would be embarresed to even show my face on such an unfair game. If only the comatadors had the balls to say exactly what they saw and heard, “CHEAP FOULS” c’mon holdling ginobli legs, three guys on top of duncun and the puch off on bowen. LAKERS MUST BE INTIMIDATED IF THATS THE ONLY WAY THEY KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE GAME. “CHEATING”
