Indians 5, Angels 2: If the Angels’ intensity from the Red Sox Series was say somewhere on “The Dark Knight” level, than last night’s performance would rank somewhere around “Kung Fu Panda.” The Angels looked a little flat last night in scoring two runs against (3-10) Paul Byrd, while at the same time giving up three home runs to a tepid Indians offense. It’s a 162 game season, it happens.

Dodgers 16, Rockies 10: Meanwhile LA’s other first place team (albeit with a below .500 record) crushed the Rockies last night at Chavez Ravine. The Dodgers were powered by an eight-run first inning and 5 RBI from first baseman James Loney. Offensive output like that is just what the Dodgers will need to consistently get if they have hopes of winning the division.

Indians at Angels (7:05 p.m. PST, FSN): The Angels look to shake off the cobwebs from last night and continue to run away with the AL’s western division. Jered Weaver takes the hill tonight looking to continue his own streak of good play (2-1, 1.46 ERA) over the past month.

Rockies at Dodgers (6:05 p.m. PST, PRIME HD): After last night’s offensive explosion I’m expecting a little more of a low scoring affair tonight because the Dodgers have yet to show they can consistently score runs. Let’s see if recently recalled Clayton Kershaw can put together that complete performance we have yet to see from him this year.

  • SportsHubLA Column of the Day: If you’re going through some Kobe Bryant withdrawal, I’ve got your rehab right here. The Register’s Janis Carr explores Bryant’s own statement that a gold medal is more important to him than an NBA title. I think this statement is true for Kobe Bryant, thanks in large part to his international background. He sees this as a chance to become, with apologies to Lebron James, a global icon.
