Sasha Vujacic stays in L.A.
By Andrew Kamenetzky | The Mind of AK, Los Angeles Lakers
After some tense negotiations, the Press-Enterprise is reporting that the Lakers and Sasha Vujacic have come to agreement on a deal. Three years, fifteen mil, a yearly salary somewhere in between what Vujacic was reportedly seeking and the Lakers were willing to pay. After a standoff that included threats of taking the show back to Europe, cooler heads and apparent compromises were made. The deal keeps a key bench player and fourth quarter mainstay in the fold, not to mention keeps fans from fretting that Ronny Turiaf’s defection to Golden State (after the Lakers declined to match an offer sheet) would equal luxury tax concerns trumping potential wins.
From here, I expect some moves around the edges (an inexpensive front court player here, a “Coby Karl” type guard- if not Coby Karl himself- there), but this strikes me as the biggest move of the offseason. Then again, I didn’t expect Pau Gasol to be on the roster, so remember to take what I say with a grain of salt. I always do.

If Sasha stays healthy and continues to improve this will be a great deal. Couldn’t be worse than the mid-level exception we gave Devon George.
A much better deal than the mistake given to Walton. If they hadn’t given Walton that ridiculous contract they could have kept Rony.
Should have kept ronny instead of sasha. ronny has a solid mid-jumper, can make freethrows at a high percentage, has good hands to catch and finish strong, has great help defense… he has no weakness as a back up powerforward (his only weakness is foul trouble but he’s a back up so it doesn’t matter). golden state stole ronny for 17 million for 4 years. On the other hand, sasha has a good shot but dass it. he makes me nervous when he dribbles —> Mr. Turnover. he does not understand the value of the triple threat position. he tries on defense which is great, but sometimes not enough….
