Been losing sleep for nights on end wondering what happened to USC’s most recent celebrated gunslinger?  Well, prepare for some z’s, because we have your answer.  The Rose Bowl MVP is battling as we speak against Brooks Bollinger to win the third string QB spot for the Minnesota Vikings. Bollinger has the edge when it comes to experience (although save a 2006 season with the Jets, his time was mostly spent sitting), but that doesn’t mean he’s necessarily got a leg up on the rook  According to Bruce Brothers of the Minneapolis-St.Paul Pioneer Press, Booty may be the front-runner.  In any event, there’s not enough room for both guys, so an eventual outcome is guaranteed.   To paraphrase Hedi Klum on “Project Runway” (which I watch with my girlfriend to be “supportive”), “In the NFL- and specifically, third string quarterbacking- one day you’re in.  The next day, you’re out.”

No disrespect to Bollinger, but I’m hoping Booty can pull off the nod.  Aside from my Trojan roots, the guy had to wait what felt like ten years before getting his turn at USC.  I used to joke with friends that by the time Booty’s college career was done, he’d be too old to play in the NFL.   It would be nice to see a pro career- assuming he’s good enough- commence at a quicker pace.
